Sonya Taylor Acree, DMD

As a child Sonya Taylor had a desire to become a dentist and she has thankfully been able to fulfil this desire. Dr. Acree has lived locally most of her life and is a graduate of Albany State University (Summa cum laude - 1990) and the Medical College of Georgia (1994). She has been in the dental field since she was 12 1/2 years old – when her father (also a local dentist) put her to work in his office to earn money for a special outfit that she wanted. Prior to joining Albany Area Primary Health Care in 2011, Dr. Acree owned Glover Dental Centre, LLC which had clinical offices in Albany and Ashburn, GA.  She is also a real estate entrepreneur. Dr. Acree enjoys being an active member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and is involved with various organizations in the community including The Links, Inc, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.  She currently serves as Treasurer for Albany State University’s Foundation Board. Dr. Acree married Mathis Acree in August of 2011, and they have two wonderful children—Taylor Anne and Lesland Grace. Ashley Scott, RDH

Ashley N. Scott, RDH, BS was born and raised in Albany, Georgia. In 2005, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Albany State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She continued her education at the Medical College of Georgia where, in 2012, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. Since Ashley was a teen, she dreamed of working in a profession where she could positively impact the lives of many. Her inquisitive nature regarding dental health professions and science influenced her aspirations of becoming a dental hygienist. As a young adult, Ashley volunteered at various elementary schools which served students from lower economic backgrounds. During her volunteer experiences, she realized the dire need for affordable and accessible oral healthcare in her community. As a result of this fruition, she strives daily to make a difference in her patient’s lives by providing optimum oral healthcare, and imparting applicable, professional oral health education to each patient. Ashley’s philosophy reflects upon the words of Confucius who once stated, "Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life." With that thought in mind, she does not view her journey as a registered dental hygienist as a drawn out experience filled with unknowns and uncertainties. Rather, she embraces this journey as an opportunity to further acquire knowledge, wisdom and understanding of the profession she loves. Ashley is the elder of two daughters born to Mrs. Gina Robinson Scott. In her spare time, Ashley appreciates traveling, experiencing new adventures and spending time with her family and close friends.

Kourtney West, RDH

Kourney West was born in Albany, Georgia, however, she was raised in Gwinnett County, Georgia. She graduated Cum Laude with an Associates in Dental Hygiene from Darton College in May 2011. Ms. West became interested in becoming a dental hygienist in the 11th grade out of curiosity due to the fact that there were not any dental professionals in her family. After finding out the importance of preventive oral care and the need to teach others about proper oral hygiene habits, Kourtney was sure that she wanted to become a hygienist.  Kourtney states that she truly loves her profession and would not trade it for any other career. During her spare time she enjoys baking and traveling.
