Ese P. Efemini, M.D.

Obstetrics/Gynecology

Dr. Efemini’s residency certification was received from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2010 after he graduated from medical school in 2006 from the University of Illinois. His undergraduate degree is in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland. Dr. Efemini joined Albany Area Primary Health Care in the summer of 2010. He is a current recipient of the National Health Service Corp Scholarship program and is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Efemini is newly married and enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Kwarteng, Francis, M.D. AAPHC Women's Provider

Francis Kwarteng, M.D.

Dr. Francis Kwarteng joined Albany Area Primary Health Care when it took over the midwifery practice that Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital had started to assist with the availability of obstetrical services to the residents of southwest Georgia. AAPHC began operating the practice in 2009 and Dr. Kwarteng had been employed by Phoebe for one year prior to this transition. He came to Albany after residency training at Howard University in Washington, DC. Dr. Kwarteng completed his medical degree in his home country of Ghana in 1996. When his schedule permits, he travels to Ghana to spend time with his family who still resides there. Dr. Kwarteng is married and has 4 children.

Callins, Keisha, M.D. AAPHC Women's Provider

Keisha Callins, M.D., M.P.H.

Obstetrics/Gynecology

Dr. Keisha Reneé Callins is the newest partner and only female ob/gyn at the Miriam Worthy Women’s Health Center in Albany, Georgia.  Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and now a U.S. citizen, she earned a B.A. in Biology at the University of Virginia in 1998, and an M.P.H. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health in 2000. She recieved the National Health Service Corps Scholarship while at Morehouse School of Medicine and received her MD in 2007. She is a 2011 graduate and former chief resident of the Morehouse School of Medicine Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Prior to medical school, she worked as a research recruitment coordinator for national clinical trials at University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Terry, Clare, CNM AAPHC Women's Provider

Clare Terry, CNM

Midwifery

Clare Terry was born in New Orleans, LA but lived most of her childhood in Maryland. She spent time in Florida as well before relocating to Georgia when she got married. Clare trained thoroughbred race horses before getting into the medical field. She graduated from Frontier Nursing University ( formerly The Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing), after being a labor and delivery nurse for 20 years. Clare loves working with women and helping them through their pregnancy and delivery.

Elois Edge, CNM, CLC, MSN

Midwifery

Elois Edge’s journey to midwifery began in 1978 as a labor & delivery registered nurse, then nurse manager. I journeyed from Darton College (ABN) to Georgia Southwestern (BSN) to Case Western University (MSN), and finally to a midwifery destination at Frontier School of Nurse Midwifery and Family Nursing in 1998 (CNM). The employment road has taken her from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital to Adams & Woods, P.C., to Phoebe Midwifery Clinic and now to AAPHC and the Mirian Worthy Women’s Health Center where she serves our female population. Through this midwifery journey Mrs. Edge has delivered approximately 2000 babies. Her husband, Dr. Bill Edge, Sr. (35 years of marriage) and she are blessed with two boys: Bill Edge, Jr. and Joshua Allen Edge. They are further blessed with two grandchildren. Her motto is “love and laughter heals all.”

Maria Mock, CNM

Midwifery

After working as a registered nurse in labor & delivery as well as serving as nurse manager for a number of years, Maria Mock obtained her midwifery certification from Frontier School of Midwifery and a Master’s from Case Western Reserve University. She has also served as an instructor in the nursing program at Darton College. After working with Phoebe Women’s Services, Ms. Mock joined AAPHC in 2009. She has two daughters and one grandson. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, shopping, and spending time with friends and family.
